Choose Life – Trainspotting Live in Belfast

Catch this controversial and hard-hitting theatre production on its international tour. It is showing at the Metropolitan Arts Centre (MAC) in Belfast from the 24th to the 27th of May before it reaches its finale at the Edinburgh Film Festival. If you are a fan of the book or the film you will love this live immersive theatre reenactment. The Londonist describes the Trainspotting Live show as  ‘fresh, funny, grim and glorious’. But be warned, this play is not for the faint hearted. It is not suitable for under 18s, so organize a babysitter for this one.

Trainspotting

Transporting tells the story of a bunch of friends navigating life in the heroin scene of 1980s Edinburgh. With the recent release of Trainspotting 2, featuring Ewan McGregor, I would be surprised if you hadn’t at least heard about this cult classic or the iconic opening lines;

“Choose us, Choose life, Choose mortgage payments, choose washing machines, choose cars…”

The Venue

The MAC is a leading arts centre and a cultural hub of Belfast. As the home of theatre, music, comedy, cinema and art exhibitions, there is something for everyone here.

I expect that this production will be unlike any other I’ve been to in the past. I’d better start preparing myself now.
